Industry — Automotive components (IATF-16949)

ERP for automotive suppliers who live and die by quality

Fast ERP carries the deep IATF-16949 quality stack — APQP stage gates, PPAP package control, FMEA, control plans, gauge R&R and 8D — layered over the same purchase, production and accounts you run every day. Receipt, in-process and pre-dispatch inspection gate every order, with full lot traceability. The quality footprint is proven at Nikhtish Engineering. And because it is the full Fast platform, it serves manufacturing businesses of every kind — cloud or on-premise, in India and worldwide.

Why automotive suppliers choose Fast ERP

The quality problems every
IATF-16949 supplier recognises

Quality lives in spreadsheets beside the ERP

APQP trackers, control plans, PPAP files and gauge registers sit in separate workbooks. The quality record never connects to the actual order, GRN or work order it belongs to, so an audit becomes an archaeology exercise.

Bad material gets in; bad parts get out

Without a gate on incoming goods and on finished product, a rejected batch is used because nobody blocked it, and a non-conforming lot ships because there was no pre-dispatch check tied to the order.

Gauges drift and calibration lapses go unnoticed

Measurements are taken with instruments nobody is tracking. A gauge is overdue for calibration, an MSA study is stale, and the data feeding the control chart can't be trusted — but nothing flags it.

A customer complaint can't be traced to a lot

When a field failure comes back, you can't reconstruct which material batch, which operation and which inspection produced it. The 8D stalls at containment because the traceability chain was never captured.

How Fast ERP fixes each one
Quality on the same database as the orderAPQP stages, PPAP, FMEA and control plans in quality & APQP attach to the item and reference the real GRN, work order and order — the record travels with the part, not in a folder.
Three inspection gates on every orderReceipt inspection on the GRN (accept / reject / deviation), in-process checks against the control plan, and pre-dispatch inspection before the delivery challan. Nothing bad moves forward untraced.
Gauge master, MSA and calibration follow-upEvery gauge is mastered with type, MSA / gauge R&R and a calibration due-date that is followed up — so measurements come from instruments you can prove are in control.
Lot traceability and 8D root-causeLots trace back through operation and inspection to the material batch on one stock ledger; an NCR raises an 8D with a root-cause tree, so a complaint is investigated, not just contained.
The automotive quality lifecycle

From APQP plan to a traceable dispatch —
quality gates every step

Every part number is planned through APQP, the material is inspected in, production is checked against the control plan, and the lot passes a pre-dispatch gate before it ships — all on one record, so an audit or an 8D can walk the chain in minutes.

Fast ERP gives an automotive supplier the audit-ready quality trail on the same system that runs purchase, production and accounts — for a single part number or a full customer program, cloud or on-premise.

01 — APQP & PPAP

Stage-gate the part, control the PPAP package

New part numbers run through APQP stage gates, with the PPAP package, FMEA and control plan built, approved and held in document control against the item. Controlled drawings, control plans and PPAP files are versioned and attached to the part and its quality records — so what the line inspects to is always the released document, not a printout on the wall.

02 — Receipt inspection

Gate the material before it reaches the line

Every goods receipt (GRN, REC) triggers a receipt inspection against the incoming specification. Material is accepted (AC), rejected (RJ) or accepted under deviation (AD); a rejection raises a PR-for-rejection or an NCR that references the originating GRN and PO. Only accepted stock posts to the usable balance in inventory & stores, so a bad batch can never be quietly consumed.

03 — In-process, control plan & gauge

Every characteristic checked with a gauge you can trust

Work orders run against the process/route sheet, and control-plan characteristics are measured in-process at each operation. Gauges are mastered with type, MSA / gauge R&R and a calibration due-date that is followed up — so a measurement is never taken on an out-of-cal instrument. A characteristic outside limits books a reject at the operation and raises an NCR, and rejection MIS surfaces where it happens.

04 — Pre-dispatch & traceability

Nothing ships until the lot passes the gate

Before a delivery challan is raised, the finished lot passes a pre-dispatch inspection tied to the order. Because lots and pallets are tracked through one stock ledger and every inspection references the GRN, work order and order, a dispatched lot traces straight back to its material batch, operations and checks. That is the traceability an automotive customer audit — and a warranty claim — demands.

05 — NCR, 8D & Dhruv AI

Turn a reject into root cause, not just containment

A rejection — incoming, in-process or from a customer complaint — raises an NCR that references the originating document and can open an 8D with a structured root-cause tree. On top, Dhruv AI gives quality a live dashboard, answers plain-English questions through a read-only sandbox, and clusters reject remarks into labelled themes by station and part — so a recurring defect surfaces before it becomes a customer PPM problem.

FAQ

Automotive ERP —
what quality and plant heads ask us

Is Fast ERP suitable for IATF-16949 suppliers?

Yes. It carries APQP, PPAP, FMEA, control plans, MSA/gauge R&R with calibration, NCR and 8D — over the same purchase, production and accounts you run daily. The quality footprint is proven at Nikhtish Engineering.

How does inspection gate an order?

Receipt inspection on the GRN (accept/reject/deviation), in-process checks against the control plan, and pre-dispatch inspection before the delivery challan. A rejection at any gate raises an NCR.

Does it manage PPAP and control plans?

Yes — PPAP packages, control plans, FMEA and controlled drawings live in document control, attached to the item and its quality records, and re-released on an engineering change.

Can we trace a part back to its lot and inspection?

Yes. Lots trace through operation and inspection to the material batch on one stock ledger, so from a dispatched lot you can walk back to the batch received and every check along the way.

Is Fast ERP only for automotive suppliers?

No. This page leads with the IATF-16949 angle, but Fast ERP serves manufacturing businesses of every kind — discrete, project/construction and SME — in India and worldwide, cloud or on-premise.

Does quality connect to purchase and production?

Yes — it is one system. Receipt inspection sits on the GRN, in-process on the work order, pre-dispatch on the order, and everything posts to the same Tally-linked ledger and accounts.
