The honest answer: the “best” ERP depends on what you make and sell

Search for the best ERP software in India and every vendor will tell you they are number one. The truth is simpler. ERP (software that runs your whole business — sales, purchase, stock, production and accounts — on one system) is not one-size-fits-all. A pure trading shop, a chartered accountant’s office and a factory each need different things. So instead of crowning one winner, this page compares the options owners in India actually shortlist in 2026, tells you who each one suits, and is upfront that we make one of them.

If you run a small or mid-size manufacturing business and you want sales, production, stores and accounts in one place with people who will sit with your team, Fast ERP is built for you. If you only need billing and GST returns, we will happily point you at a lighter tool below. New to the category? Start with our plain-English guide, what is ERP software.

Is this you?

How we built this list: we compared widely used ERP and business-software options in India on the factors a manufacturing owner actually weighs — manufacturing depth, GST fit, support model, deployment and the shape of the pricing. We include our own product, Fast ERP, and say plainly where each option fits best. There are no star ratings, no invented scores and no paid placement, and all prices are indicative bands — confirm the final figure with each vendor.

A fair word on each option

Tally

Accounting-first and everywhere in India — almost every CA (chartered accountant) can work in it, and its GST is very strong. Where it stops is the shop floor: its bill of materials and stock are basic, so a growing manufacturer soon needs more. We compare the two worlds in detail in Tally vs ERP for Indian businesses.

Zoho

A cloud suite that shines for multi-channel sellers and e-commerce, billed per user each month. It has inventory and a light manufacturing add-on, but deep production and quality are not its focus.

ERPNext / Odoo

Open-source and very flexible. The software itself can be free, but real value comes from a partner configuring it, and that setup and customisation typically costs ₹1–3 lakh or more. Budget for the partner, not just the licence.

SAP Business One

Enterprise-grade depth and global compliance for larger SMEs and companies with overseas operations. It is powerful, and it is the priciest and most complex option to run here.

Vyapar / Marg / Busy

Low-cost billing and simple stock for micro and small businesses. Great value if invoicing is all you need — but they are not manufacturing systems.

Where Fast ERP is the best pick

We do not claim to be best at everything. Our scoped lane is clear: the best ERP for Indian manufacturing SMEs that want manufacturing depth, on-site support and affordable pricing. If that is you, here is why owners choose us.

What you actually get

One system where an enquiry becomes a quote, an order, a dispatch and an invoice; where a shortage becomes a purchase order, a goods receipt and a supplier bill; and where a released order drives production and quality checks — all posting to the same stock ledger and accounts. That is the difference between software that bills and software that runs the business.

Fast ERP is the full superset of the Improsys platform, built in Pune (Nigdi) and proven across real manufacturing deployments — automotive component suppliers under IATF-16949, discrete job-shops and growing SME manufacturers. It runs cloud or on-premise, and when you are ready, our team is a call or WhatsApp away.

Which ERP software is best in India in 2026?

There is no single best ERP for everyone. Tally is best for accounting and GST, Zoho for cloud multi-channel sales, ERPNext or Odoo for open-source flexibility, SAP Business One for enterprise depth, and billing apps like Vyapar for simple invoicing. Fast ERP is the best pick for Indian manufacturing SMEs that want sales, production, stores and accounts in one system with on-site support and SME-friendly pricing.

How much does ERP software cost in India?

It varies widely. Billing apps run a few thousand rupees a year, Tally is a one-time licence of roughly ₹18,000 to ₹54,000, cloud suites charge per user each month, and open-source setups often cost ₹1 to 3 lakh or more to configure through a partner. Fast ERP is a cloud subscription or on-premise licence rather than a per-user meter; see our pricing page and ask our team for a firm quote.

Is Tally an ERP?

Tally is accounting-first software with strong GST and basic inventory, so many small businesses use it as their core system. But it is light on manufacturing — bill of materials, work orders, production and quality — which is why growing manufacturers move to or alongside a manufacturing ERP. Fast ERP integrates with your existing systems including Tally.

Do I have to move off Tally to use Fast ERP?

No. Fast ERP integrates with your existing systems including Tally, so your accountant can keep working the way they do while production, stores and sales run in Fast ERP. Our team sets this up during implementation.

Does Fast ERP work for non-manufacturing businesses?

Fast ERP is built for manufacturers, and that is where it is strongest. If you only need billing and GST returns, a lighter tool may suit you better, and we will tell you so. If you make or assemble products, Fast ERP will fit.
